Get the facts!

clean&greenDC: Get the Facts!

The clean&greenDC fact sheet series serves as a guide to create an environmentally clean and safe community while changing attitudes towards maintaining a clean community. We encourage everyone to read the tip sheets and do what you can to help keep your community clean.

FACT: Motorists and pedestrians are responsible for creating 30 percent to 55 percent of all litter.

FACT: The rest of the litter comes from household or commercial garbage, construction sites, and trucks that are loading, delivering, or uncovered while transporting items.

FACT: Garbage that is not properly disposed of is easily blown by the wind, spreading litter to neighboring areas.
